Have you ever wanted to experience a country on a deeper level, not just as a tourist, but in a way that allows you to truly connect with the land?
Not just to see it, but to feel it.
To sense something shift within you simply by being there.
This was my experience in Peru.
Moving beyond surface-level travel
For many years, I travelled in the same way most people do. I would visit the well-known destinations, take photos, see the sights, and move on to the next place without fully taking it in.
And while those experiences were enjoyable, they stayed at the surface.
It wasn’t until I went to Peru that I realised there is another way to travel.
A way that allows you to connect more deeply, not only with the place itself, but with something within you.
Experiencing the energy of Peru
When I travelled through Peru, particularly in places like Lake Titicaca, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu, I didn’t just experience the beauty of the country.
I experienced something much deeper.
There was a stillness in the land.
A quiet intelligence.
A sense of being supported and held.
It felt as though the land itself was alive, and that presence created a shift within me that I can’t fully explain, only feel.
How to connect with a place on a deeper level
This experience led me to ask an important question:
How do you move beyond being just a tourist and into creating a deeper, more meaningful connection with a place?
Through reflection, I’ve found that it begins with three simple, yet powerful practices.
1. Follow where you feel called
When we travel, it’s easy to follow the standard path. We visit the most popular destinations and stick to what is recommended.
While these places are beautiful, the most meaningful experiences often come when you follow your own intuition.
There may be a town, a village, or a quiet place in nature that you feel drawn to without knowing why.
That pull is important.
It is often where your experience is waiting.
Sometimes it may even be connected to something deeper, such as a past life or an energetic imprint your soul recognises.
For me, places like Lake Titicaca were not just destinations. They felt like a calling, and when I followed that feeling, the experience became far more meaningful.
2. Connect with the people and the culture
One of the most powerful ways to experience a country is through its people.
When you take the time to connect with locals, listen to their stories, and understand their traditions, something shifts.
You begin to see the land through their eyes.
You start to understand the connection between the people, the land, and their ancestry.
This creates a deeper sense of respect and awareness.
It is no longer just a place you are visiting, it becomes something you are experiencing and participating in.
In Peru, there is a strong connection to ancestry and tradition, and when you allow yourself to be present in those moments, the depth of the experience expands quickly.
3. Create intentional spiritual experiences
Connection does not happen by accident.
It happens through intention.
This means taking the time to slow down, to be still, and to truly be present with where you are.
It may look like participating in a ceremony, such as a cacao ceremony, or simply sitting quietly in nature and allowing yourself to feel into the space.
It is about creating moments where you are not distracted, not rushing, and not trying to capture the experience, but instead fully living it.
For me, it was in these intentional moments that everything began to shift.
The connection wasn’t forced. It came naturally when I allowed myself to be still.

When travel becomes transformation
When you bring these three elements together, following your intuition, connecting with people, and creating intentional experiences, travel becomes something very different.
It becomes transformational.
When I returned home from Peru, I didn’t just bring back memories.
I brought back a different way of seeing the world.
I felt more connected, more present, and more grounded in who I am.
There was a sense of clarity and strength that hadn’t been there before.
A different way to experience Peru
Peru is not just a beautiful destination.
It is a place that can open something within you.
It offers an opportunity to reconnect with the land, with ancestry, and with parts of yourself that may have been quiet for a long time.
If you have ever felt the pull to experience something more than travel, to connect with a place on a deeper level, Peru is one of those places that offers that.
A gentle invitation
If this resonates with you, I invite you to trust that feeling.
That pull is often where your next experience is waiting.
